Many people decide to start with yoga practice as a way to take their minds off of their everyday life. The constant ticking of tasks off of routine lists can get exhausting and leave anyone anxious. Here are our experts’ recommendations to help you find inner peace, delivered in 4 yoga poses:
1. Prayer Pose
This is an easy, classic yoga exercise that you can do both standing and seated. Bring your palms together at your chest and close your eyes. Dip your chin toward your hands. Focus on slow, even breathing. This meditative pose encourages mindfulness and emotional balance.
Hold for a few minutes to center yourself. Be present in every breath.
2. A Combination of Cow and Cat Pose on the Chair
Using these poses together promotes spinal flexibility and relieves upper back tension. Alternate between rounding your back and tucking your chin in toward your chest (Cat Pose) and arching forward with your shoulders back(Cobra Pose) while seated.
Synchronize the movements with your breath for 5-8 rounds. Inhale at Cat and exhale at Cobra.
3. Bound Angle Pose
This pose stretches the lower back and inner thighs. Sit on a flat surface with your feet together and knees apart, pressing your feet together while gently leaning forward. Tighten your body and keep your back straight. Enjoy the burn as it keeps your focus on this exercise.
Hold for 30 seconds, breathing deeply.
4. Palm Tree Pose
This easy standing pose flexes your shoulders, lengthens the spine, and extends the lower back. Stand tall, reach your arms overhead, and intertwine your fingers. Stretch your arms up as fast as possible and tighten your whole body.
